Mike Angley to Attend Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) Conference in Orlando, Florida Oct 9 – 10, 2009

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Here’s the program for the Military Writers Society of America’s (MWSA) Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida which I will attend from October 9 – 10, 2009.  I will formally receive the Silver Medal for Fiction from the 2009 Annual Award program — a HUGE honor for me!

The MWSA has asked for some support in voting for the People’s Choice Awards.  Here’s the appeal from MWSA’s President, Joyce Faulkner:

“Please encourage your friends to vote for the People’s Choice Finalists — 1 Vote per person.  The Finalists are: Mindy Phillips Lawrence, Jack L. Wells, James Jellerson, Jerry Yellin, Bonnie Bartel Latino, John Cathcart, Marlyce Stockinger and Jeff Senour & CTS.  Their work is in the Program and on our site.  Most of them have recorded their work and that’s on the site as well.  Be sure to encourage folks to listen to their performances as well as read the words.  Also, encourage your contacts to forward the request to everyone they know — and ask everyone to they know to forward it on.  Our goal is 1 Million votes by 5pm October 10th.  The winner will be announced at the Awards Banquet later that evening.”

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I do consulting and public relations work for Henley-Putnam University in San Jose, California.  When I recently won the Silver Medal for Fiction from the Military Writers Society of America, the university promoted it with a great press release.  You can find it on PRWeb as well as Yahoo News.

Here’s an excerpt:

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 1, 2009 — Henley-Putnam University Public Relations Officer Mike Angley’s mystery/thriller debut novel, Child Finder, received the Silver Medal in the Fiction category in the 2009 Military Writers Society of America’s Annual Awards program. He will attend the MWSA’s annual conference in Orlando, FL from October 9 – 10 to receive this prestigious honor.

Each year the MWSA judges numerous submissions in several literary categories and selects the best for award of gold and silver medals, with one or two additional runners-up. Angley’s novel received the Silver Medal in the Fiction category for the highly-competitive 2009 MWSA program (http://militarywriters.com/2009Awards.html).
